The Berlin Art Weekend took place on 29 April to 1 May this year and offered as much interesting contemporary art as expected. We went to the weekend on Friday and in the evening attended the artist talk at the Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle where their artist of the year, Basim Magdy, was in conversation with the curator. The artist, who was born in Egypt in 1977 and now lives in Basel and Cairo, uses the future as an opportunity to take a critical look at the present.
