Masterpiece art fair, London 2018

We were at the preview day on Wednesday 27 June this week.  Cross-collecting is the aim of the fair and the eclectic mix of contemporary works, with old and modern masters is actually awe inspiring. I love seeing the mix of old and new together.

I saw plenty of works by Damien Hirst, and Japanese artist, Kusama, as well as eighteenth century portraits and drawings, jewellery and furniture. The standard was impeccable and the mix of period pieces with contemporary is very inspiring and appeals to the imagination. If I were new to collecting, I would definitely start here at Masterpiece, and especially on Preview Day where there is a relaxed yet buzzy feel to the place, and much less frantic than Art Basel or other contemporary fairs.

If you'd like to come along next year, and let me accompany you through the many varied stands, do get in touch.
