Frieze art fair this year showed some delightful works by Idris Khan at Victoria Miro gallery, Pablo Bornstein’s architectural drawings and David Shrigley’s light paintings made a great backdrop for some inspirational photo shoots. Overall, there were 159 galleries curating spaces with a tremendous range of works, from installations, sculptures and drawings and paintings.
Naturally I gravitated towards the drawings by Pablo Bornstein, and the paintings of Georg Baselitz, 1986. Although I have to say, I did like David Shrigley’s solo stand with his humorous shopfront “windows” filled with eye-catching slogans. “Endless Joint”, 2017.
There was a focus on eight, activist, feminist artists in eight separate stands, entitled jointly, “Social Work” to focus on women artists, a trend this year, including works by Nancy Spero, Faith Ringgold, Andrea Bowers.
